The Corporate world in itself presents a carnivorous ecosystem that asks people to be merciless and cunning at the same time. You need to be merciless with your prey or else you will starve to death and at the same time you need to be cunning enough to trick your predator or else you will become a meal. To survive in this ecosystem is an art that can be mastered only if you start caring about what you do and at the same don’t expect people to perceive that you really do care for what you do. If you portray to the world that you care for what you do then that may well become your weakness. It definitely is a fact that nobody cares how much you care – all it matters is what you bring to the table.
The biggest lesson one needs to learn is that emotions at work place is a big NO, but the irony is if you don’t have emotions you cannot actually give your best in what you do. People don’t have time or the mindset to care for what you do. The corporate ecosystem is driven by results and just remember that to get those results sometimes you need to be the prey and run for your life and if you survive then one day you will become the predator who will give the prey’s in the ecosystem a run for their life!
